Shepard Fairey‏ (American, born 1970)

Shepard Fairey (American, 1970- ) is a contemporary graphic artist out of Charleston, SC who emerged from the street art scene. He originally was recognized for his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” and “Obey” images but later became widely known after the 2008 U.S. presidential election for his Barack Obama “Hope” poster. His works are in the permanent collections of the MOMA, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Boston ICA, and many others.
