Kimber Berry (American, born 1970)
Kimber Berry masterfully integrates elements of the digital and pure paint into her explosively colorful, visually dense, multi-dimensional canvases and installations. They exist in the psychological space between object and life, reality and illusion. She creates “Liquid Landscapes” by photographing paint, digitizing and manipulating the images, and then embedding them onto a surface (often of industrial materials) shared with actual paint.
Raised amidst “over the top advertising and the glitz of Hollywood” in her native Los Angeles, Berry is conscious of the increasingly blurred lines between reality and illusion, and her work exists in the liminal space between the two. She attended University of Southern California, Los Angeles and Claremont Graduate University.
